Futuro Leaders Scholarship Program
The prestigious Âé¶¹ Futuro Leaders Scholarship Program will recognize 15 academically talented, first-generation collegebound students with a full tuition and fees scholarship for the 2026-2027 academic year (does not include room and board).
The program is open to qualified high school seniors. Students must be nominated for the program by their high school principal (or designee) by Dec. 12, 2025.
Program Highlights
Students in the 2026 cohort will reside in the Âé¶¹ Futuro Leaders Scholars living-learning community, a space designed to build on their inherent leadership skills. Futuro Scholars will:
- Take part in mentorship sessions with Âé¶¹ President Abel A. Chávez, MBA, PhD
- Live together on the same floor of the residence hall
- Enroll in classes together
- Attend leadership-focused events and activities outside of class
Criteria
Nominees must meet the following criteria:
- Nominated by their high school principal, assistant principal, or counselor
- Be a first-generation college-bound student
- Be a first-time freshman for the fall 2026 term
- Possess an unweighted GPA of 3.75 or higher (on a 4.0 scale)
- Apply for admission to Âé¶¹ by Dec. 19, 2025. Upon receiving admission, we will provide the student with instructions on how to complete their candidate profile.
- Complete the FAFSA
Futuro Scholars must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 hours and up to 19 credit hours per semester. Scholars must maintain a cumulative Âé¶¹ GPA of 3.0 to renew the scholarship for up to four years of undergraduate study.
